Okay. So, obviously, Generation X is too pessimistic and too unlucky to play the lottery. But if you are Gen X and you’re thinking you might want to chum those choppy lotto waters and see what bites, perhaps you’ll give these exclusively Gen X number sets a try.

Rationale: X is the 24th letter of the alphabet. Generation X is the 13th American generation. Gen X’s birth year range begins in 1965 and spans 16 years. There are approximately 64 million Gen Xers in the U.S.

Numbers: 6, 9, 10, 11, 28, 29

Rationale: Winona Ryder’s birthday is 10/29. Ethan Hawke’s birthday is 11/6. Janeane Garofalo’s birthday is 9/28.

Guns N’ Roses Lucky Numbers

Rationale: Album release dates. Appetite for Destruction – 7/21, G N’ R Lies – 11/29, Use Your Illusion – 9/17

Coupland’s Bad News Lucky Numbers

Rationale: Douglas Coupland wrote the book that gave Gen X its name. The back of the book contains a section called Numbers, and generally the numbers are unpleasant for Gen X. Here are a few: Percentage of households under age 25 living in poverty… 1979: 20; 1984: 33. Percentage of income required for a down payment on a first home… 1967: 22; 1987: 32. Percentage of 25 – 29 year olds owning homes… 1973: 44; 1987: 36.
