Micro-Generations Stereotypes Chart

Micro-Gens, You Say?

Oftentimes, those of us born on the cusp of a generational range don’t align well with the stereotypes of that generation. For example, a Gen Xer born in 1979 might find they have some traits in common with Gen X, but also display many traits associated with Millennials. This realization has led to the acknowledgement of micro-generations that span the tails of the generational bell curves. These groups, then, have their own traits more in common with each other than with the macro-generations that come before or after them.

I’ve written before about the differences between Gen X and their surrounding micro-gens, Gen Jones and Xennials. You can check that out here.

And while I have made a chart comparing living generations, I have found that some readers would like to see a chart comparing micro-generations, as well. So, here you go!

Notes

I would like to state, first of all, that I am not an academic in this field. More of a hobbyist, and these are my impressions based on readings and lived experience. Also, I remind everyone that stereotypes are limited as applied to individuals. Please leave a comment to include your agreements, disagreements, and additions. That is how we all learn more about ourselves and those around us!
